In the heart of the Philadelphia MSA close to Swarthmore College, this new building’s exterior architecture built into the side of a rock cliff on an old mill site respects the mill’s history. The interior style, contemporary soft lodge, appeals to the new generations of retirees with modern tastes; and the higher education and arts culture in the Wallingford area. The look of a lovely boutique hotel or inn with comfortable casual sophistication was achieved with lush scheme of colors, textures, and natural materials plus an extensive collection of original art throughout nine floors. The design teams efforts were rewarded with a 50+ Housing Award from the NAHB in 2008.
